A Life's Two Nines - Images
From a Personal Scrapbook.
These selected images from Niel Loudon's personal scrapbook span the years 1958 to 1981, illustrating the people, events and international relationships that shaped his contribution to the modern game.
They provide a photographic counterpart to the historical paintings explored in the earlier Gentry Links books — another way of discovering the individuals and relationships behind golf's evolving institutions.

Niel was Captain of the Kenya team at the inaugural Eisenhower Trophy at St Andrews in 1958 which lead to his overseas membership of the R&A

In at at the deep end: attending Niel's first Joint Rules Conference with the USGA at Turnberry, 1963, with 'well kent' faces from both R&A and USGA, to use a Scottish idiom!

North Berwick in 1979, one of the governance meetings at the time of a Walker Cup, extended from R&A and USGA to include ROW representatives in golf: Rules of Golf; Rules of Amateur Status; Implement and Ball Rules.
